This person left a comment on one of my "shorts" where I describe the agenda in a JW Book Study. Ironically, for them the truth in John 8 is referring to a person, NOT an organization. I told this person, they need to keep reading because Jesus is the one who sets free from sin. Jehovah's Witnesses are indoctrinated to believe that truth must be found in an organization. I've seen this with other religious groups where they are led to believe their church is the only TRUE church. When disillusion strikes these individuals because they've uncovered falsehood, lies or deception in their group they are still left with the question of "what church/group has the truth?" Instead, the New Testament continually points to a person for salvation and freedom. Our job is not to identify the true religion but rather to respond to a person and his work.   Happy New Year! The day after Christmas I approached two Jehovah's Witnesses and asked them their reasoning for not celebrating Christmas. My goal was not to get them to believe celebrating Christmas is acceptable but rather for them to see how they carry a double standard.  Jehovah's Witnesses are quick to call out Christendom for its supposed false teaching and pagan doctrines. However, what is considered a false teaching for other religions is simply a mistake or error when it's taught by the Watchtower. Secondly, if we take a look at the teachings JW's held during the time Jesus was supposedly inspecting all the churches, they were not the proper food at the proper time. They interpret Matthew 24:45-47 as a prophecy to mean God will appoint a "Faithful and Discreet Slave" to feed God's people.   Over the summer I approached two Jehovah’s Witnesses during their preaching work. They showed me a video which described the Bible as a road map for life and answers. I challenged them to consider that the road map they are provided by Watchtower is untrustworthy due to the false prophecies from their organization. Unfortunately, they were not able to see that they are representatives of the Watchtower and not of the Bible. At one point I gave told them a story about a pastor who made false claims to see their opinion on how the congregation should respond. They admitted that the people who attend the church of this false prophet should leave. But yet, they don’t apply their same reasoning to their own organization. Your boss ends up listing a number of things about your work performance, work ethic, and character but these things are all negative and untrue. She continues to list attributes about yourself that are false. How would you feel? Would you be upset, confused? You certainly wouldn’t be receptive to what she had to say. Below are ten questions you can use to ask a Jehovah's Witness or someone else who you are concerned is in a high control group. Now, these questions are designed to help your Jehovah's Witness friend to start thinking critically because they are become conditioned to rely on an organization to think for them.  These questions are not designed to just start blasting one after the other at a Jehovah's Witness. They way to use these questions is by genuinely asking them in a calm setting and allowing your friend to answer. The other day I called a Kingdom Hall in order to inquire about an odd statement I had read on the official Jehovah's Witness website [JW.ORG]. On one of their webpages titled, "What does it mean to be born again? What does the Bible say?" it stated that Jesus Christ was the first person to be born again. Now, I understand that Watchtower's definition of born again differs from the Biblical and historical definition. I also understand Watchtower teaches only 144,000 anointed believers can be born again. But, I wanted to ask whoever picked up the phone where in the Bible does it specifically state that Jesus was born again. After all, the Watchtower is supposedly Bible based ! Right? Written 12/15 The world is filled with many variations of suffering and pain, from mere accidents like tripping and twisting one’s ankle to catastrophes such as earthquakes and tsunamis, from bank robberies to mass murders, horrible events occur every day.  Some have not been able to reconcile the existence of such things with the existence of an all powerful, good and loving God. Here is a conversion of two Jehovah's Witnesses I spoke to recently. I approached them and calmly asked them what happened to the resurrected Lord's body. They both said that Jesus' body rotted in the tomb. Honestly, I was taken aback by this and just rolled with it. What they said is not official Watchtower doctrine, so it was quite bizarre. The official Watchtower doctrine is that Jehovah did not let Jesus' body see decay. But, Jehovah's Witnesses do teach that Jesus resurrected as a spirit creature and re materialized in different forms after his resurrection. When I approach JW's I always like to ask questions about not being able to reconcile two things: Something the Bible said and something the Watchtower said. I then ask them to explain it to me because I'm confused. They consider themselves teachers of the Bible, therefore they are more than willing to help! I just had an amazing conversation with two Jehovah's Witnesses. I was not expecting to run into them today. I pulled up to the store and looked up to see them right in front of me. I couldn't say, "not today Lord." We talked for thirty minutes and by the end of the conversation I had told them that the Watchtower Society was a false prophet and the "Good News" they shared with me is a false good news (gospel). Still, they shook my hand and the man said that I was a nice pers on! Please pray for this couple, I really believe the Lord has been working on the husband's heart. Here is a quick example of one of the reasons we abolitionize Christian events. It’s certainly not to hate on Christians for not fighting abortion the exact same way as we do. Rather, it is to fulfill the Great Commission, meaning preach the Gospel and teach them the things Jesus commanded. This woman, who attends a Christian church, justified murdering humans because “God is the only judge and we have to just let him take the wheel.” She quoted Ecclesiastes 11:9 to prove along with that we are allowed to live anyway we want to. When I explained to her using Scripture that God sees the baby in the womb as a living human being and he has commanded us not to murder. She replied “that is your interpretation, I interpret the Bible differently.” I read 1 Corinthians 6:9-12 in a final attempt to get her to see that God has standards, her friend asked me to leave. Opposing and exposing evil and consistently speaking on behalf of those who are dehumanized and destroyed in our culture is not contrary to the preaching of the Gospel. The Great Commission does not cancel out a Christian's responsibility to rescue those being led to the slaughter and God's command to love our neighbor. In fact the Great Commission includes teaching others God's commands, "teaching them to observe all that I commanded you." God has commanded us to love and re scue the orphan, weak and oppressed, to stand against evil, love mercy, establish justice, correct oppression, and bring justice to the fatherless. Preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ and rescuing my pre-born neighbor from death are not contrary but harmonious. Is the New Testament a myth or an accurate historical document? The idea that the New Testament is a collection of embellished stories has been propagated through pop culture and universities. Many have come to believe that Jesus Christ of Nazareth never really existed and the New Testament which accounts his life is fiction. Others have recognized that Jesus Christ is an actual historical figure, however they retain that the New Testament is a legend similar to Robin Hood or a historical fiction similar to Homer’s Iliad. The first thing we must understand about the New Testament is that it is set in a time and place that is recorded in history and which still exists today. Recently I watched a film titled, "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" . The film takes place during World War 2 in Nazi Germany. It centers around a young German boy named Bruno who is forced to move from his home in Berlin to a new house in Poland. This move is due to his father's promotion from an SS officer to commandment. Bruno is eight years old and completely unaware of the current affairs of the world, the only thing on his mind is being an explorer. When Bruno arrives at his new home he is saddened that there are no children nearby to play with. From his bedroom window he spots what he thinks is a farm a few miles from his house. He also notices children at this farm, who despite being strange because they wear pajamas all day, he desires to play with.
