Hillsong United Attendee Condones Abortion
Here is a quick example of one of the reasons we abolitionize
Christian events. It’s certainly not to hate on Christians for not fighting
abortion the exact same way as we do. Rather, it is to fulfill the Great Commission,
meaning preach the Gospel and teach them the things Jesus commanded.
This woman, who attends a Christian church, justified
murdering humans because “God is the only judge and we have to just let him
take the wheel.” She quoted Ecclesiastes 11:9 to prove along with that we
are allowed to live anyway we want to.
When I explained to her using Scripture that God sees the baby in the womb
as a living human being and he has commanded us not to murder. She replied “that
is your interpretation, I interpret the Bible differently.” I read 1
Corinthians 6:9-12 in a final attempt to get her to see that God has standards,
her friend asked me to leave.
I wish I could say that this sort of conversation is rare.
But the truth is there are people most likely sitting in your services who condone
shedding innocent blood while raising their hands to worship God. They sing, “Holy
Spirit you are welcomed here” while in the next breath justify poisoning,
dismembering and butchering image bearers of God.
This is a reality in our churches that should disturb us enough
to act on behalf of our fellow neighbors who are being torn apart down the
street from our churches.
I do feel for this person though, she has reduced
Christianity to a Carrie Underwood song and a slogan that has been repeated
countless times. In reality, the idea that God will judge her should awaken her
to repentance and throwing herself on the mercy of Christ.
So when you hear abolitionists say things like, “the church
needs to repent” or “repent with us”, it’s not some arbitrary phrase that we
repeat because we want to bash Christians. We truly believe those who profess
to be Christians need to turn from their failure to love their pre-born
neighbor as themselves. This failure can display itself in actually condoning murder or simply neglecting to rise.
“When you come to appear before Me,
Who requires [e]of you this trampling of My courts?
13 “Bring your worthless offerings no longer,
Incense is an abomination to Me.
New moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies—
I cannot endure iniquity and the solemn assembly.
14 “I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts,
They have become a burden to Me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15 “So when you spread out your hands in prayer,
I will hide My eyes from you;
Yes, even though you multiply prayers,
I will not listen.
Your hands are [f]covered with blood.
Who requires [e]of you this trampling of My courts?

16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight.
Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good;
Seek justice,
Reprove the ruthless,
[g]Defend the orphan,
Plead for the widow.

Seek justice,
Reprove the ruthless,
