Abortion Interview and Response

I recently interviewed a man on the subject of abortion. His name was Randall and he supported abortion. The reasons he gave in defense of his position are not new or reasonably thought out. They are just slogans that have been repeated enough times which individuals have based a very important ethical issue on. In this paper I will respond to his arguments and replace misinformation with truth, using logic and the Bible.             The first argument Randall gave in support of his position was, “It’s not a baby in the womb, but a fetus, and it is just tissue”. Now, an unborn child will be called many names by pro abortionists in order to dehumanize it. Pro abortionists will call the baby in the mother’s womb a human zygote, blastocyst, an embryo, fetus, tissue and clump of cells, anything about a baby. It is a biological fact that life begins at conception. Even pro abortionists ...

180 Movie

Image
The first time I watched ‘180’ I got the chills. I was completely shocked how the people interviewed in the beginning of the video had not heard of Adolf Hitler. As George Santayana said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." I believe education about the Holocaust should be mandatory for all children. Many people view the Holocaust as a horrific event and claim to value human life. These same people in their next breath will defend the killing of innocent babies in their mother's womb. The justifications for abortion are jaw dropping.  Most of the things people said in defense of abortion in 180 seemed more like rhetoric; "It's not a baby", “killing the baby is okay if it came from rape", "It's just a fetus”, “every situation is different", "abortion is okay if the baby has birth defects". If I followed the logic of these individuals, then it would be right for a mother to kill her child at tw...

Just Getting Some Chips

Image
The other night on my way home from church I decided to stop at the grocery store to pick up a few things. I had a shiny rhinestone pin on that read Jesus . As I was looking for my favorite chips, a lady looked at me and exclaimed, "Oh! I LOVE your pin"! I was pretty excited thinking she must be a strong Christian because hardly anyone has ever commented on any Christian clothing I have worn. They just read it and quickly look away. So, I got into a discussion with this lady, whom I'll call A. She told me where she lived and what she did for a living. I asked her how long she had been a Christian, she told me she used to attend a Catholic church and just recently started attending a Calvary Chapel in January. I asked her if she read her Bible every morning. She told me how her and her husband missed Wednesday night Bible Study. I clarified my question, "No, I meant do you have personal devotions in the morning?" She told me she did not and maybe she should...

What is Beth Sarim?

Image
Last week I took a drive to the Kensington Heights area in San Diego California. Located near the end of a cul-de-sac is a beautiful home that is over 5,000 square feet. This home was built in 1929 by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, the Jehovah's Witnesses organization. The purpose of building the home is one different than the reason given today by the Watchtower Society. In the early twenties the Watchtower Society taught that Abraham. Isaac, Jacob, and the Old Testament prophets would come back in 1925 and rule as princes and live in Beth Sarim. Read for yourself: "At San Diego, California, there is a small piece of land, on which, in the year 1929, there was built a house, which is called and known as Beth-Sarim. The Hebrew words Beth Sarim mean "House of the Princes"; and the purpose of acquiring that property and building the house was that there might be some tangible proof that there are those on earth today who fully believe God and Christ Jesu...

Sowing Continually

Image
by Henry Morris, Ph.D. “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good” (Ecclesiastes 11:6). In the Bible, the common occupation of sowing seed is frequently used as a symbol of witnessing for the Lord. Unlike an actual farmer, however, Christian seed-sowers are to engage in their occupation perpetually, day after day, morning and evening, everywhere they go. “Cast thy bread upon the waters,” the wise Preacher said, “for thou shalt find it after many days” ( Ecclesiastes 11:1 ). The sowing is often difficult, but is necessary, before the fruit can grow, and the promise is that “they that sow in tears shall reap in joy” ( Psalm 126:5 ).  Often others may reap the fruit of our seed-sowing labors (or we may reap the fruit of theirs), but that is all right, for Christ Himself said that “one soweth, and another reapeth” so that “both he ...

Misconceptions about Christianity

Image
Chapter 2 of Defending Your Faith discusses four misconceptions that skeptics have concerning Christianity. Misconception 1: “Christianity must be proven scientifically; I’ll accept Christianity when you prove it with the scientific method.” Christianity cannot be proven scientifically. When someone tries to prove something using the scientific method, they do so by having a controlled environment, where an experiment is repeated over and over again and observations are recorded. The central claims to Christianity are the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We cannot take Jesus kill and bury him and see if he resurrects again and again. Historical events are unrepeatable. Therefore, we cannot prove historical events using the scientific method. One must use the legal historical method of proof to prove an historical event. The legal historical method of proof evaluates the written testimony, the oral testimony and the physical testimony. Misconception 2: “I ca...
