What is Beth Sarim?

Last week I took a drive to the Kensington Heights area in San Diego California. Located near the end of a cul-de-sac is a beautiful home that is over 5,000 square feet. This home was built in 1929 by the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society, the Jehovah's Witnesses organization. The purpose of building the home is one different than the reason given today by the Watchtower Society.

In the early twenties the Watchtower Society taught that Abraham. Isaac, Jacob, and the Old Testament prophets would come back in 1925 and rule as princes and live in Beth Sarim. Read for yourself:

"At San Diego, California, there is a small piece of land, on which, in the year 1929, there was built a house, which is called and known as Beth-Sarim. The Hebrew words Beth Sarim mean "House of the Princes"; and the purpose of acquiring that property and building the house was that there might be some tangible proof that there are those on earth today who fully believe God and Christ Jesus and in His kingdom, and who believe that the faithful men of old will soon be resurrected by the Lord, be back on earth, and take charge of the visible affairs of earth. The title to Beth-Sarim is vested in the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society in trust, to be used by the president of the Society and his assistants for the present, and thereafter to be forever at the disposal of the aforementioned princes on earth. . . . while the unbelievers have mocked concerning it and spoken contemptuously of it, yet it stands there as a testimony to Jehovah's name; and if and when the princes do return and some of them occupy the property, such will be a confirmation of the faith and hope that induced the building of Beth-Sarim." Salvation(1939) p.311

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the Old Testament prophets did not arrive in 1925. Beth Sarim was supposed to stand as a symbol that the WT is Jehovah's organization, instead it stands as a reminder that the WT is a false prophet. Deuteronomy 22:18-21 specifically states that any prophet who speaks a prophecy in Jehovah's name is a false prophet if his prophecy does not come to pass. 1925 is one of the many prophecies made by the WT that have failed. Many Jehovah's Witnesses are not aware of the original purpose of Beth Sarim. They are told today the house was built for their president's use, "Joseph Franklin Rutherford", also known as "The Judge". Judge Rutherford would spend his winters in San Diego because he was ill. Judge Rutherford also owned a yellow Cadillac that he drove until King David came to San Diego.

Next time Jehovah's Witnesses knock on your door ask them about Beth Sarim and its' original purpose. Lord willing you will plant a seed in their heart and mind, and they will research the true history of the Watchtower Society and find salvation in the true Jesus of the Bible.
